Virus attack:
This week had been a challenging week in school. I agreed to help a colleague to do relief duty on Monday morning. Relief duty simply means that we have to slot teachers into classes where teachers are not avaliable; either on mc, on child care leave or away on courses. As I stepped into the general office at 0655 hrs the office support staff informed that that there were14 teachers on MC. I was like OMG !! This is definitely a new record. We never had this big no before. Ang this numbers is not inclusive of those staff away on courses. So if 14 teachers are away and if each of them have at least 6 periods a day. That would simply means having to fill in 84 slots of half hour each. This is sheer madness.
So the next immediate response was to call for external reliefs. Our pool of relief teachers are mainly poly students who are having their holidays. But what luck Monday was the first day of school for these bunch of students. This limits the number of external reliefs avaliable.
Monday morning was such a stressful morning. And its not even my duty day. So everybody was telling me that I can claim CIP hours. Really really unexpected.
The flu epidemic was really bad cos staff are down with flu and they are away for at least 2 days MC. Which means that the next day was the same number of teachers down and out. Oh correction! Not the same number but more as the virus being circulated more are caught with it.But those down are more from the 3rd floor rather than the second floor.
My duty was on Wednesday. The number of teachers away was not as bad as Monday. However, in the middle of the morning a colleague ran to my table and asked that I arranged for relief for a staff who had apparently fainted outside the staff room. He had been down with the flu for 2 days. Having not fully recovered he came back to school. Immediatley after class while walking back to the staff room he just collapse.
It had really been a very stressful week.
Exam is also just round the corner. Thus its that time of the year again when I am busy with ensuring that the exam papers are printed. And what with my partner for exam duty being away on course I am stranded with the running of the job alone.
Also this week we had the school visit. All of us had to go to Maris Stella on Thursday. Somehow I ended up with just Mdm Lee in my car. She was the one who was familiar around Bartley / Braddel area. Somewhat we ended lost cos she gave me the wrong directions. So I had to make a big turn all the way from Macritchie back to Bartley. Ended with us being the last to arrive. What do u=you expect. Balik sampai Macritchie. It was such a long day for me.
That same evening I made my way to Masjid Ba'Alwie cos they are having Maulid. Reach home nearly 11 pm. Can faint siah. Tired n shacked.
